Congratulations to the following students who scored 100% on their ancient Greece test: Easton, Zoee, and Corbin. Honorable mention to Kiara for scoring 99%. Fifty-three other students scored an A- or an A. Twenty-eight students scored a B or higher. Several students took an extra Greece test that will count toward their Falcon Award. Congratulations to these students who passed: Nate, Wyatt, Corbin, Annie, Seth, Jaiden, Evan, Kellie, Emily, Alden, and Stephen. More students are planning to retake a similar test and will surely pass. Study! We would also like to acknowledge Nate and Kellie for having the top two essays comparing and contrasting Athens and Sparta. We are super proud of these students for their extra efforts. We are also proud of those students who raised their grade. Kudos to you! Ancient Greece has been conquered!

Science -- Home work -- due tomorrow. (Thursday) The assignment is to draw a picture with a moon phase as part of it. An example would be a Halloween picture at night with a full moon. The moon phase must be drawn at the right time of day. The pink sheet tells which time of day each moon phase is in the sky. The pink sheet has two questions that need to be answered and then attached to the picture. The picture can be of anything, but should be your best drawing and be colored. Have fun and see you tomorrow!
Soc. Studies: Ancient Rome map due Monday
Language Arts: "How To Handle A Bully" Essay Due: 2/28. We are finished working on the essay in class. Students will need to continue working on them at home to keep improving their scores. On February 28, I will record the scores.
Oral Poem Performance of "Don't Quit" Due: 2/15. Students will be graded, so remember to practice it "Loud, Slow, and Clear." Tomorrow, February 10, I will be checking in class to see if the students have at least the first six lines memorized, and yes, this will be for points. I'm finding that too many students have not been memorizing their "one line per night" assignment.
"Causes of Good Grades" Due: 2/28. We will be working on this essay in class all this week and most of next week. After that, it will be the students' responsibility to keep working on their essay at home to bring up the scores.
Remember: If students are absent from my class, they need to makeup the missed class time working on their essays at home on myaccess.com, which is 40-45 minutes. Several students have been assuming that because I don't hand them a worksheet, they don't have any makeup work. Their makeup work is on-line.
Reading: The Beginning of Rome WS 115-118. Pg 118 due tomorrow. Extra credit on pg 117 due on 2/17. Use complete sentences and be thorough when answering in order to get the 15 points. I will add it to the lowest score on the progress report.
